Tarana Burke Q&A with Dr. Stephanie Troutman

The Consortium recently hosted 'me too.' Movement founder Tarana Burke at Centennial Hall, where she participated in a moderated Q&A with Dr. Stephanie Troutman and answered questions from the UA and Tucson community. Ms. Burke spoke powerfully about the need to recognize sexual violence as a social justice issue and to center black women's voices in the fight to end all forms of gender-based harm. She also spoke about the importance of acknowledging and learning about past anti-violence movements that have helped give rise to the me too movement, while also applauding the bravery of a new generation of activists and survivors. Proceeds from the pre-event reception were donated to the African American Student Affairs cultural center toward a student scholarship fund.
