The Consortium on Gender-Based Violence office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please knock on Suite 100 main door for staff to let you inside our suite. Staff are wearing masks in the office and following University of Arizona and CDC protocols. The Consortium on Gender-Based Violence supports best practices in public health, science, and medicine. We support the University’s promotion of vaccines to protect our most vulnerable community members, including those who are immunocompromised and children.

The Consortium is partnering with the Sonora Review, the oldest graduate student-run literary journal in the country, on a special online issue and nonfiction contest. The theme of the issue and contest is “Extinction,” and will explore the intersection of gender-based violence and various other forms of irreversible harm (against the planet, other species, and ourselves).
For the contest we are seeking works of literary nonfiction only. The contest will be judged by critically acclaimed author Lacy M. Johnson. The winner will receive a $1000 prize and their piece will be printed as a microbooklet and inserted into the 77th edition of the Sonora Review.
Submit Your Work
For the online special issue we are accepting submissions in the following genres and mediums: poetry, fiction, and nonfiction (creative nonfiction, personal essay, article (journalistic, academic/technical). We welcome multimedia submissions, (e.g. photo essays, short documentary, etc.).
Pieces should be submitted via Submittable.
